URBANTONIX
A skincare launch film created with Visionary Co., with colour by Ari Jhangiani.
Overview
Urban Tonix was one of the first commercial projects I graded with Visionary Co., and a big part of the process was learning how to translate creative feedback into something practical inside the grade.
The first pass already had the warmer evening look the team wanted, but Zain felt the footage needed more depth and separation between the subject and background. From there, I worked through revisions using masking, lighting adjustments and shot-by-shot colour matching, while regularly sending frames back to Zain and Tom to make sure I was moving in the right direction.
We also worked from visual references instead of trying to describe everything through colour terminology. That made the process much easier. I could see exactly what they meant by wanting something cleaner, slightly moodier and more cinematic without pushing the footage too far.
A lot of the final polish came down to smaller things: matching green and purple casts between bathroom shots, warming individual clips, controlling distracting greens and bringing the subject forward where needed.

The final film
The version on the site is the result of several rounds of feedback between myself, Zain and Tom. What I liked most about this project was that the grade wasn't treated as a one-shot handoff. We kept refining individual shots until the colour felt consistent with the direction they had in mind.
By the final pass, most of the remaining notes were tiny shot-matching and exposure adjustments, which was a pretty good sign that we had landed where we wanted to.
